Changan's Rayong Plant: Building the Deepal S05 for the World, Targeting 50,000 Units
An update on Changan's plant in Rayong, production base for the Deepal S05 and NEVO Q05, with a 2026 target of around 50,000 units, exports to Europe and plans for a high-voltage service center in Thailand

Since production began in May 2025 Changan's plant in Rayong has become Changan's first fully integrated new energy vehicle production base outside China and a key strategic hub for the Deepal brand in ASEAN. For drivers in Thailand, a local plant means more than an investment figure: it reflects a long-term commitment to the market and its customers.
Key facts about the plant
- Total investment of more than THB 10 billion
- Phase-one capacity of 100,000 units a year, with plans to expand to 200,000 units a year
- Covers body, paint, engine assembly, battery assembly and final assembly lines
- The first vehicle off the line was a right-hand-drive Deepal S05
2026 production target
Changan aims to build around 50,000 Deepal S05 and NEVO Q05 units at its Rayong plant in 2026, with the NEVO Q05 the second model produced in Thailand after the S05. Thai media report that the Deepal S05 consistently sells more than 900 units a month domestically, while Changan Thailand has set a full-year 2026 sales target of 30,000 units, following 14,065 units in 2025, up around 81% on the previous year.
From Rayong to Europe
In late December 2025, the Rayong plant exported its first batch of Deepal S05s to Europe, a market with strict safety and quality standards. The plant is also positioned as an export hub for right-hand-drive vehicles to other markets such as Australia and New Zealand. The brand as a whole is clearly growing: Deepal's overseas sales from January to May 2026 totaled 28,704 units, up around 167% year on year.
What it means for owners in Thailand
Local production benefits owners in several ways. First, parts are more readily available. Second, there is the domestic supply chain, in which Changan aims to keep increasing the share of locally sourced components. Third, there is investment in after-sales service: Changan has announced plans to set up a high-voltage systems center (Three-Electric Center) in Thailand and to train technicians certified jointly by Changan and CATL to look after EVs nationwide.
Another point buyers often overlook is long-term value. Brands with a tangible local plant, dealer network and service centers tend to enjoy greater confidence in the used-car market. Changan also plans to expand its dealer network to around 100 locations in 60 provinces, making service more convenient wherever you travel.
