Geely EX2 or EX5: Which Model Suits Your Needs?

Compare the Geely EX2 electric city hatchback with the Geely EX5 electric family SUV: price, battery, range, charging and warranty

Geely EX2 or EX5: Which Model Suits Your Needs?

Geely in Thailand offers two main EV models with clearly different positioning: Geely EX2 a compact electric hatchback for city driving, and the Geely EX5 a mid-size electric family SUV. Both are built on the same GEA architecture but serve different groups of drivers. This article summarizes the key differences to help you decide more easily.

Price and value

Based on 2026 reference prices, the Geely EX2 PRO is 429,990 baht and the MAX is 459,990 baht, while the Geely EX5 has promotional prices starting from around 739,000 baht for the PRO up to 929,000 baht for the top MAX+. The nearly twofold price difference reflects significant differences in vehicle size, battery and power. Prices may change with campaigns; please ask the dealer for the latest pricing.

Battery, range and performance

  • EX2: 39.4 kWh LFP battery, 395 km range (NEDC) or around 325 km (WLTP), rear-wheel-drive motor with around 85 kW and 150 Nm of torque
  • EX5 PRO / MAX: 60.22 kWh Aegis LFP battery, 160 kW motor, 320 Nm of torque; the MAX covers around 490 km (NEDC)
  • EX5 MAX+: 68.39 kWh battery, 525 km range (NEDC)

If most of your driving is within Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani and Bangkok, the EX2's range is enough for several days of use per charge. But if you frequently travel between provinces, the EX5 offers more flexibility.

Charging

The EX2 supports AC charging at up to 6.6 kW and DC Fast Charge at around 70 kW, charging from 30% to 80% in around 25 minutes according to published data. The EX5 supports AC at up to 11 kW and DC at around 100 kW, charging 30–80% in around 20 minutes. This means that although the EX5's battery is larger, charging stops on the road take about the same time.

Space and practicality

The EX2 stands out for its clever use of space, with a 70-liter front trunk (frunk), 36 storage spaces and a flat rear floor. Its tight turning radius makes U-turns and parking in narrow lanes easy. The EX5, meanwhile, offers a more spacious cabin, ideal for a family of five with luggage for holiday trips.

Safety and warranty

Both models have earned 5 stars from Euro NCAP and ANCAP — the EX5 in 2025 and the EX2 under the new 2026 criteria. Under Thai campaign warranty terms, the EX2 comes with a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 150,000 km battery warranty, while the EX5 has a 6-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 180,000 km battery warranty.

In short: choose the EX2 if you want a first or second EV for city driving on an economical budget; choose the EX5 if you want a main family car that handles long trips in comfort.

Comparing on paper helps to a degree, but how a car feels from behind the wheel is the best way to decide. Motor Creation would be happy to arrange test drives of both the Geely EX2 and EX5 on the same day, and to calculate monthly payments and energy costs based on your actual usage.
