Scheduled EV Maintenance: What Gets Checked and What It Costs

A rundown of the EV maintenance items you should know, from service intervals, brakes, tires and the 12V battery to high-voltage battery health checks

Scheduled EV Maintenance: What Gets Checked and What It Costs

One advantage EV owners clearly notice is that maintenance is simpler than for combustion-engine cars, with no engine oil, spark plugs or exhaust system to look after. Even so, EVs still need regular scheduled servicing for safety, performance and to keep the warranty valid. This article summarizes the key items you should know.

Service intervals

AutoSpinn notes that many EVs have a service interval of about once a year or every 20,000 km, longer than some petrol cars. Each service costs roughly THB 1,000–3,500, depending on the brand, model and items checked. However, the actual interval should follow the warranty booklet and owner's manual for each model.

Key inspection items

  • Brakes Brake pads and discs usually wear more slowly than on petrol cars thanks to regenerative braking, but still need inspecting, and brake fluid should be changed about every two years
  • Tires EVs are heavy and have high torque, so tires may wear slightly faster. Rotate, balance and align them at the recommended intervals.
  • Cabin air filter Replace about once a year or according to mileage, especially during periods of high dust and particulate levels
  • 12-volt battery Still essential for the car's electrical systems, with a lifespan of about 3–5 years
  • Battery and motor coolant Long replacement intervals; many models specify several years or more than 100,000 km
  • High-voltage battery and software Battery health check with diagnostic tools, plus software updates as specified by the manufacturer

Estimated annual costs

AutoSpinn estimates overall EV maintenance costs, including scheduled servicing, consumables and tires, at around THB 4,500–15,000 per year, with tires being the biggest variable. This is a preliminary estimate and is generally lower than for comparable petrol cars, since there are no engine oil changes or engine parts to replace.

What Owners Can Do Themselves Between Services

  • Check tire pressure at least once a month, as it affects both safety and range per charge
  • Watch for warning messages on the screen, and book a service appointment right away if an alert relates to the battery or braking system
  • Check the washer fluid level and wiper blade condition, especially before the rainy season
  • Keep the charging port clean and check the portable charging cable regularly

Why You Should Service at an Authorized Service Center

High-voltage systems require specially trained technicians, safety equipment and the manufacturer's diagnostic tools. Servicing at an authorized center ensures you get the latest software updates and a complete maintenance record, which is important evidence for battery warranty claims and adds credibility when you sell the car.

The Motor Creation service center in the Ayutthaya area looks after Deepal, Geely, Riddara and Farizon EVs with brand-trained technicians. You can book scheduled servicing, ask about maintenance packages, or drop by our showroom to test drive the latest models.
